This paper will discuss Taurua’s whare: a whare built to memorialise Taurua N?tana, his mokopuna, and others shelter manuhiri engaged in the p?hiri process at Wai?hau marae. is part of marae complex. The complex includes wharenui, Tama-ki-Hikurangi—a for nineteenth-century prophet, Te Kooti (Rangiwai, 2021); wharemate; paepae; wharekai named after Kooti’s prophecy, Umutaoroa;[1] memorial flagpole, along with three other granite memorials; large ablution block. focal point wharenui.
